2. Course Description & Objectives:
Speaking Practice B is a class that is taken after students have mastered Academic English 2. Speaking Practice B is usually taken in the second semester of students’ sophomore year. This class is divided into four levels (B1, B2, B3, B4) based on the proficiency of students’ skills. The course will focus on improving oral competency and communication skills. The objective of the course is to improve oral language use of students within a variety of settings such as interpersonal, professional, and academic.

3. Class Features
Attendance Policy:
1 point will be deducted for each absence. If you miss more than 3 classes, you will receive a failing grade. If you are more than 20 minutes late to a class, you will be marked absent. Three LATEs will equal one absence.

Assignment &Participation:
This course will require you to work on and engage in projects, presentations, role-playing activities, etc. Some assignments such as projects and presentations will be interactive, so you will be expected to work in groups or in pairs. Since this course is above all, an oral competency class, you will be expected to speak and actively engage with classmates, peers, and instructors. It is mandatory that English be utilized at all times throughout the duration of the course.

Quizzes and Exams:
There will be 2 in-class quizzes;1 taken before the mid-term and 1 taken before the final.
The mid-term exam period is scheduled to be Oct. 20~26. The final exam period is scheduled to be Dec.8~14. If you are absent for either the mid-term or final exam, you will receive a failing grade. Specific details will be given prior to the exam dates.
