Final Speaking Test

Final Speaking Test

The speaking final will be a 3 minute, one-on-one interview. It is worth 15% of your final grade. You will be asked two or three of the group of questions listed below (time permitting). You will be judged according to the following criteria:

(1) comprehension of the questions asked 5%
(2) clear pronunciation with proper intonation 5%
(3) correct grammar and variety of vocabulary 5%

TOPICS:

Unit 6
1.Talk about having a healthy lifestyle.
Why is it is important to have a healthy lifestyle?
What should people eat? What shouldn't people eat?
What should people do for exercise?
What should people try to do every day?

2. Role play. I will describe a health situation to you, and you will have to give advice.

Unit 7
3. Talk about your shopping habits.
Where do you like to shop? Why?
Where do you not like to shop? Why?
When do you like to go shopping? Why?
When do you hate shopping? Why?

4. Talk about things to spend more money on.
What kinds of things do people spend a lot of money on?
When is quality more important than price? Why?
What types of things should be of very high quality? Why?
When does quality not matter?

Unit 8
5. Talk about your personality.
What kind of a person are you?
What is your best quality? What is your worst quality?
What kind of person do you like? Why?
What kind of person would be a bad match for you?

6. Talk about an interesting relative you have. Answer the following questions:
Who is this person? What makes this person interesting?
What kind of personality does he / she have?
Do you like this person? Why or why not?

Unit 9
7. Talk about a surprising accident that happened in your country.
What happened?
When did it happen?
What were you doing when this event happened? What did you do?
How did this affect your community?

8. Talk about injuries.
What kind of injuries have you had?
What is the most serious injury you have had?
When did it happen?
What were you doing?
How long did this injury last?

Unit 10
9. Talk about an animal you would like to have as a pet.
What animal is it?
Why would you like this animal as a pet?
What might you have to change in your home to have this animal? Why?
What might your family and friends think? Why?

10. Guessing game. I will think of an animal, and you will have to ask questions to try to guess what it is.
