Mid-term Speaking Test

Mid-Term Speaking Test

The speaking mid-term will be a 3 minute, one-on-one interview. It is worth 15% of your final grade. You will be asked two or three of the group of questions listed below (time permitting). You will be judged according to the following criteria:

(1) comprehension of the questions asked 5%
(2) clear pronunciation with proper intonation 5%
(3) correct grammar and variety of vocabulary 5%


Questions:

1. Talk about your last vacation. Answer the following questions:
Where did you go? When did you go? What did you do there? Who did you go with?
Did you enjoy your trip? Why (not)?

2. Talk about a place you want to visit in the future. Answer the following questions: Where do you want to go? Why do you want to go there? When do you think you can go? Who is going to go with you? What activities are you going to do there?

3. Talk about your favorite movie. What is the name of the movie? What kind of movie is it? What is it about? What do you like about it?

4. Talk about a recent fun activity. Answer the following questions: What did you do? Where did you do this activity? When did you do it? Who did you go with? How did you feel about it?

5. Talk about an exciting activity that you want to do in the future. Answer the following questions: What have you always wanted to do? Why do you think it’s exciting? When and where do you want to do the activity? Why?

6. Talk about an unusual activity you have done. Answer the following questions: What is the activity? When and where did you do it? Why? Did you like it? Why don’t most people do it?

7. Talk about a famous place for you to visit in the future. Answer the following questions: Where do you want to go? Why do you want to go there? What have you heard about this place? What kinds of things do you want to see? What do you want to do there?

8. Talk about the worst place you have ever visited. Answer the following questions: What is the name of the place? Where is it? What kinds of things can you see and do there? When did you go there? What did you do there? Why was it the worst place you visited?

9. Talk about planning a special event. Answer the following questions: What should a person do a month before the event? What should the person do a week before? What can the person do to make it a good event? What is the most important thing to do when planning an event?

10. Talk about a holiday tradition from your country. Answer the following questions: What is the holiday? What time of year does this holiday occur? How do people in your country celebrate it? Do you like this holiday? Why or why not?
